Winter is finally winding down in the Peace Country. A crisp morning (25 on the Fahrenheit scale) but enough snow has melted that I took a walk in the woods on the back corner of my property. Still enough snow that you can see the wildlife activity in the area. I see signs of lynx, foxes, rabbits and a cow moose and her calf that have been wintering here. A pine marten is watching the dogs and myself with more curiosity than apprehension. It’s rather funny how hw slips from one side of the tree to another trying to keep an eye on all of us.
Life out here is like heaven, no fear mongering over wars or pandemics. Just peace. I am truly blessed to be able to enjoy this lifestyle. It requires a lot of time to nurture a property like this but if you are willing to do the work yourself you don’t need a lot of money. Neighbors are few. My closest one is about 1/2 of a mile away but everyone is friendly when you do see them. I wonder how many people in a suburb or apartment complex know their neighbor’s names? Most of us live in fear and suspicion of everyone around them. Here, we try to help one another.
This is the lifestyle Western Governments are determined to destroy. They do this simply because we are not beholden to them. They do not like independent people who believe in helping one another.
Even if you live in a city apartment block you can achieve some of this independence by one simple act. Walk up to your neighbor, look him straight in the eye, put your hand out and say “Hi I’m your neighbor and my name is_____. “
Get to know your neighbors as people. You will find they have the same concerns and maybe even the same interests as you do. Build relationships. In these trying times you may have to depend on each other to survive.
Remember, regardless of politics, ethnic origins, religion or any one of numerous differences we are all brothers and sisters. Practicing this beliefs is the only way we will be able to stave off the depredations of governments and their self-serving policies.
Peace to you all and may your Gods go with you.
